How to Feel Empowered - Empowerment Photography
This is something we all question within ourselves. Confidence or Empowerment is not something we are born with, although I do believe that it's a trait that naturally lies within some of us more than others. It's not something we're taught in schools or in any part of our educational journeys. It's something that we learn and harness over time - A tool in our belt that constantly needs to developed or we lose it.
I believe that claiming your right to empowerment, starts by claiming your worth. It can start with the smallest acts, like strengthening knowledge in something you love or beginning to speak uplifting and empowering words over yourself or by doing things that give you the feel good factor.
These all seem like small things in retrospect, but as we start regularly adding them in to our lives, we start laying claim to what makes us feel good. This feeling is something that undeniably changes lives of people everywhere. Confidence/Empowerment is the foundation of enhancing you life, so with that let's dive into Laura's shoot.
Norfolk Beach - Empowerment Photoshoot
Having already shot Laura's boudoir session, we knew from then that we wanted to get together and do another shoot. Something a little more adventurous and outside of the studio. So we made a plan that in Summer last year we were going to come together for my first "Empowerment Session."
Laura is an incredibly body positive girl, with a great outlook on life and on her own body! Like me, she knows the importance of constantly revisiting the need to boost her confidence and empower herself to keep this mindset. It isn't something she is able to switch on and off and it's been a battle to love herself. Preach it girl.
Once we had decided on a beach shoot, it was time to brain storm on what we wanted from this! We discussed outfit choices and the flow of the session beforehand, but we totally knew we were getting that sea! What Laura didn't know at the time was that I was harbouring my little secret (which was my little boy growing away in my tummy), but there we were waist deep, partially frozen at 7:30 in the evening splashing around in the sea. Me with my camera and my camera bag on my back, desperately trying not to fall in!
We had so much fun and couldn't stop laughing the whole way through our session together, it was as much soul food for me as it was for Laura and we knew that we'd made some pretty spectacular images. She was positively beaming after our session, only helped by a hot dog and some warm doughnuts on the way home.
I've added some of our favourite images below to the gallery and I'm sure you'll agree that they are stunning. Thank you Laura for trusting me with your vision and I cannot wait for our next shoot!
If you feel like an empowerment/confidence boosting session is something that you would be interested in, why not get in contact with me on the contact form below (under the gallery) and we can organise some time to speak about your vision for your session. I cannot wait to hear from you!
